Anegundi, a fortified city on the left bank of swash Tungabhadra, was a small principality of the 12th century Hoysalas of Karnataka. As Mohammud Tuglaq ‘s rule ended amid revolutions by his Deccan Muslims, Hukka- Bukka sisters, under the guidance of savant Vidyaranya, established in 1340, a area at ― Vijaya Nagara ‖( City of Victory) close to Hampi on the right bank of Tungabhadra contrary to Anegundi.
